Nonsurgical Procedures
Many people who come to Dr. Geo Tabbal’s Frisco practice are looking for facial rejuvenation beyond what at-home remedies can provide — but they aren’t ready for surgery. Others use nonsurgical procedures to complement the results of their surgical procedures. Dr. Tabbal provides a range of effective nonsurgical procedures, performed at his office, often during the same day of consultation (if desired).

BOTOX® Cosmetic & Other Neuromodulators
BOTOX® focuses primarily on the “dynamic wrinkles” that result from repeated facial expressions. This makes it uniquely effective for smoothing out areas such as the forehead, glabella (i.e., the area between the eyebrows), crow’s feet, and bunny lines.
In addition to BOTOX®, Dr. Tabbal also offers Dysport® and XEOMIN®, which offer comparable benefits in different formulations. In your consultation, Dr. Tabbal will discuss whether Dysport® or XEOMIN® may be a better choice.
Neuromodulators produce results over the course of 3 to 10 days, and results typically last 4 to 6 months; although experiences vary with product and area injected, as well as individual factors.
BOTOX® is also FDA-approved for treating hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating.
Dr. Tabbal offers a range of very effective nonsurgical procedures, performed at his office, often on the same day (if desired).
Dermal Fillers
With dermal fillers, the goal is to fill in folds and sunken areas of the face by adding volume. Dr. Tabbal offers the following families of products:
- JUVÉDERM® (including JUVÉDERM VOLUMA®)
- Restylane®
- Radiesse®
Dr. Tabbal is able to regularly enhance his techniques and practices with findings from ongoing research and cutting edge developments made by academic centers such as his institution, UT Southwestern Medical Center.
With dermal fillers, the results are essentially instant. Depending on the filler used, results can last from 6 months to 2 years.
KYBELLA®
For patients with unwanted chin fat (what we often call a “double chin”), KYBELLA® injections use a chemical called deoxycholic acid to dissolve fat cells and create a slimmer contour. Deoxycholic acid occurs naturally in the body, where it aids in the breakdown of ingested fats. As the injected fat cells dissolve and die, the body gradually removes them, creating results that improve over the course of several weeks.
Most patients will need a series of sessions for the best results. KYBELLA® patients also need to have good elasticity in the skin under the neck; if the skin is too loose, a neck lift is likely the best path for an effective result.
While experiences vary, KYBELLA® results typically take several weeks to emerge as the body breaks down and flushes away the fat cells. Many individuals see the best results from a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart.
Chemical Peels
For a dramatic improvement in skin tone and texture, patients can undergo a trichloroacetic acid-based chemical peel (TCA). The treatment causes the top layers of skin to dry out and peel away, revealing new, regenerated skin. A chemical peel can remove fine lines and wrinkles, age spots or uneven skin tone, freckles, and even minor scars.
In some cases, Dr. Tabbal may recommend that patients complete a pre-treatment regimen of topical creams at home for the most transformative results.
The time between treatment and final results depends on the strength of the peel Dr. Tabbal applies.
Laser Procedures
Laser skin resurfacing creates micro injuries to the skin, designed to stimulate the body’s natural healing response. This boosts the production of collagen, which tightens and smooths the skin.
Here again, UT Southwestern’s stature offers patients a unique advantage. The facility has a wide range of lasers, and Dr. Tabbal can choose the one that will best suit your cosmetic goals.
UT Southwestern is also home to Dr. Jeffrey Kenkel, Chairman of the Plastic Surgery department. He is a leading authority on laser procedures, having authored more than 100 articles and textbook chapters on lasers (among other topics). The surgeons at UT Southwestern — including Dr. Tabbal — continue to benefit from his knowledge and expertise.
