Breast Reduction Patient 18
Breast Implant Removal (Explantation) & Breast Lift
This patient is shown approximately three months after removal of her long-standing breast implants combined with a breast lift and reduction. After more than 10 years, this patient no longer wanted her saline breast implants. She felt they were “too big” and desired a lighter, more natural breast shape that better fit her body proportion and her lifestyle.
Her implants were large-volume saline devices (exceeding 500 cc) and had been placed in the subglandular position (over the muscle). Because subglandular implants can alter and disrupt portions of the blood supply to the overlying breast tissue over time, careful surgical planning was essential to safely achieve her desired result.
Several weeks before surgery, the saline implants were intentionally deflated in the office. This gradual deflation allowed the skin envelope to begin contracting before surgery, helping optimize the subsequent mastopexy and allowing for more predictable reshaping of the breast.
During her procedure, the implants were removed and a breast lift/reduction was performed to restore a more youthful breast contour and improve symmetry. In addition to implant removal, approximately 550 grams of breast tissue was removed from each breast, significantly reducing excess weight while reshaping and elevating the breasts.
At three months postop, she is already enjoying a lighter, more proportionate appearance with improved breast position and a natural contour. As swelling continues to resolve and scars mature over the coming months, her results are expected to continue refining.
